The period between the 400s and 1400s of European History, between the "Classical Period" and the "Modern Period."
Depending on how we date the beginning and end, the Middle Ages lasted for over one thousand years. It has commonly been called the “Dark Ages”, as if it was a completely negative period. In reality, cultural changes during this period would lead to the birth of Europe itself, sowing the seeds for Western European social, political, and economic power in the 1500s.
